SmartRent appoints SightPlan CEO as sales VP following merger

Donner previously led Greystar's nine real estate divisions Appointment follows SmartRent's $135 million acquisition of SightPlan in March

SmartRent, a smart home automation proptech, today announced appointing SightPlan CEO Terry Danner as the Executive Vice President of Sales, according to a press release.

Danner joins following SmartRent’s recent $135 million all-cash purchase of multifamily workflow management platform Sightplan in March 2022. The company says in his new role he will be responsible for integrating sales and operations for both companies, including combining technologies to alleviate “longstanding problems for property owners, staff and residents”, and driving strategic growth across current and future markets.

“Terry is a seasoned leader and accomplished industry veteran who is well suited to lead SmartRent in its next stage of growth,” said Lucas Haldeman, CEO of SmartRent in the release. “His strong relationships and expertise in key real estate sectors are a true asset to the company as we integrate SightPlan’s technology and continue to scale.”

Danner began his professional career with Summit Properties, which Camden Property Trust later acquired. He then took on executive leadership positions at Trammell Crow Residential Services, another multifamily real estate company.

Later he helped develop Riverstone Residential Group, a third-party management company. As CEO of Riverstone, Danner oversaw the company’s mid-2014 merger with lead multifamily owner and operator Greystar (the largest property management firm in the U.S.)

“After having a strong working relationship with SmartRent for many years, I’m excited to join the leadership team and help further integrate the SightPlan and SmartRent solutions to achieve positive results for new and existing clients,” said Danner.

He is also associated within the multifamily management industry through the National Apartment Association (NAA), and has contributed to several committees as a longtime member of the NAA Board of Directors. He also played an active role in the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC).
